What Is Crystalline CBD?

When deciding which CBD product to buy, you may be overwhelmed by the various choices you have. There are literally thousands of CBD products in the market: CBD edibles and gummies, CBD drinks and cocktails, CBD oils, tinctures, capsules, and pills, not to mention CBD bath bombs, lotions, hand creams, and sanitizers.

Aside from the product you want to buy, you will also need to decide which type of CBD you want to take. Take a look at a product label and you will see Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil, broad-spectrum hemp oil, CBD distillate, and CBD isolate.

If you feel swamped by terms, labels, and product descriptions that you don’t understand, this post will help you make an informed choice about the CBD product that best suits your needs.

What Types of CBD Are There?

All CBD products that are legally sold in the United States are made of Industrial Hemp.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized the production, consumption, and sale of CBD at the federal level, as long as it is produced from Industrial Hemp and contains less than 0.3% of THC.

Hemp growers must apply for a license to grow Hemp on their land. Before sending their Hemp for processing, they must ensure that its THC content is less than 0.3% in dry weight.

Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil

Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil contains all 540 phytochemicals of Hemp. This means that Full-Spectrum Hemp oil contains precious cannabinoids such as CBC, CBN, CBG, CBDV, CBDA, THCV, and more. It also has hundreds of terpenes—the aromatic essential oils of Hemp—such as humulene and myrcene. Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil also contains all of Hemp’s flavonoids, which are antioxidant, as well as minerals and vitamins.

Broad-Spectrum Hemp Oil

Broad-spectrum hemp oil is similar to Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil but has gone through an extra extraction process to fully eliminate even the minute traces of THC naturally found in Industrial Hemp.

CBD Distillate

Occupying a place somewhere between CBD isolate and broad-spectrum, CBD distillate consists solely of cannabinoids. This is useful to CBD producers who wish to create proprietary broad-spectrum CBD oils and CBD products with specific properties. However, it has no terpenes or flavonoids, unless these are added after processing.

Crystalline CBD (CBD Isolate)

Unlike its other siblings, CBD isolate only contains CBD. It has undergone extensive processing to remove all other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in order to leave behind almost 100% pure CBD.

Due to the processing method, CBD isolate ends up as large crystals that can be made into a fine white powder. This is crystalline CBD.

Crystalline CBD is odorless and tasteless. This is because terpenes give Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil its distinctive aromas and scents. Without terpenes, CBD has no flavor or odor.

What Are the Benefits of Crystalline CBD?

Crystalline CBD offers several benefits:

  • People find crystalline CBD easy to consume because it can be added to foods and drinks. They can even add it to oil and make their own tincture.
  • Crystalline CBD is easy to dose because there are no carrier oils and other ingredients to take into account when calculating a dosage.
  • Due to its lack of taste and odor, crystalline CBD is more palatable and easier to consume.
  • Crystalline CBD makes it easier for pharmaceutical companies to standardize their ingredients. Since Hemp Oil is a botanical product, there is always some variation between batches. This is fine for supplements but not for medicines. With crystalline CBD products, this is no longer a problem.

Is Crystalline CBD Beneficial?

While there is nothing intrinsically wrong or dangerous about crystalline CBD, here at Synchronicity we prefer to work with the full wholesomeness of Hemp. This is for a number of reasons.

Crystalline CBD Has Undergone Extensive Processing

Isolating CBD from the rest of the 539 phytochemicals requires extensive processing, which often involves harsh solvents and chemicals.

Hemp is washed and purified and then CBD is isolated through chemical methods. The end result is purged and purified with solvents to obtain crystalline CBD.

Our Synchronicity method of processing is based on a far gentler approach. We start with CBDRx18, our proprietary Hemp plant grown locally in Colorado using sustainable practices.

We process CBDRx18 using LipidTrans™, our patented, gentle infusion process that lets the full integrity of Hemp seep into our Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil—what we call Wellness Through Oneness™.

We double-infuse our whole-plant Hemp in coconut oil or MCT and let the carrier oil absorb all of Hemp’s beneficial phytonutrients. We then hand-press it gently to remove any fibers. LipidTrans™ avoids any solvents and chemicals to retain all of Hemp’s prized phytonutrients.

We find our method more respectful of the plant and more efficient in producing a truly superior final product.

No Entourage Effect

Crystalline CBD contains solely CBD. However, research suggests that when CBD is combined with all the other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, the effect on the body and mind is more powerful and sustained.

In 2011, Dr. Ethan Russo described how the whole is greater than the sum of its parts when it comes to Hemp. Hemp’s hundreds of compounds carry their own potential anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-microbial properties. When they work together, they seem to produce an optimal overall effect—the so-called entourage effect.

This was confirmed by research done in 2015. The study showed that a whole plant extract was superior in performance to CBD isolate for the treatment of inflammatory issues.

Crystalline CBD will not offer your body and mind the benefit of the entourage effect. While CBD may have anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, and anti-anxiety properties, it seems to work best when consumed along the rest of Hemp’s phytonutrients.

Synchronicity and LipidTrans™ let you experience the True Entourage Effect™.

The Synchronicity Philosophy

For more than 20 years, we have been studying and researching Hemp. Our starting point has been to use the fullness of the plant with the least human and chemical intervention. We develop Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil products that are respectful of the human body.

Thanks to our gentle infusion process, our Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil products have no residue from solvents or chemicals simply because we don’t use any. Our consistent and constant lab tests testify to the purity of our CBD products. If you don’t believe us, see for yourself: you can check online the Certificate of Analysis for any of our products using nothing but the Lot Number.

Because we believe in the entourage effect, we stay away from creating CBD products that lack the wholesomeness of Hemp. Terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids have all their own benefits to offer. Why should we take Hemp, nature’s gift, and discard everything good about it except for CBD? Instead, we opt for partnering with nature to help the human body make the most of Hemp.

Help your body make the most out of nature’s gifts and Feel the Full Effect™ with Synchronicity Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil products!
